Yet another crazy week filled with doctor visits. I thought I was going to have Tuesday and Wednesday off- wishful thinking.
Monday- Did not have to return to Savannah for another octreoscan. Appointment with the gastroenterologist to discuss the endoscopy, colonoscopy, & capsule endoscopy. Scheduled for first thing Thursday morning.
Tuesday- Call in to Dr. Chahin (oncologist), pain in legs and hips. Prescribes 20 mg of oxycotin. Also wants me to come in to do a CBC (complete blood count). Results show I need another blood transfusion. Hemoglobin count- 9.
Wednesday- Blood transfusion at 8:30 am- Beaufort Memorial. Since I needed 2 bags, it took 4 hours. Started fasting for gastro procedures.
Thursday- Hospital at 6:30 am for procedures. Given a sedative and do not remember any of it- yay! Swallowed capsule at 8 am and had data recording devise strapped around my waist and 6 sensors placed on chest. Returned at 4 pm to remove devise.
Friday- Follow up with Dr. Chahin at 9:30 am. Got a lot of questions answered. Said that if Dr. Morse (specialist at Duke) suggests a treatment that can be done here in Beaufort, will start on Wednesday. Also upped my dose of oxycotin to 2 pills every 12 hours because of extremely intense pain. Naval hospital for x-ray of hips to make sure no fractures.
Needless to say, it's been a busy week. A painful, drug hazed week.
Thomas' dad and stepmom came down last night for the weekend. It's so great to have family around. Thomas and I decided it would be a good idea to purchase a wheelchair for me as it's very difficult to walk far distances; i.e. doctor appointments. Jack and Jan live close to the store we found one online at so they picked it up on their way here. Once I start treatment and killing the cancer cells in my bones, I hopefully won't be in so much pain and won't need it.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all of your thoughts, prayers, love and support. Every single comment I read, lifts my spirits and brings a smile to my face. Y'all have the biggest hearts.

Praying for you to have relief from your pain. I continue to see you wrapped in light and peace. Blessings.
I'm looking forward to coming down there and carting you all around in your fancy new wheelchair... we'll zoom up and down all the hills and staircases.
Well, maybe not staircases.
I'm so impressed by your resilience through all this. You're a toughie, Alison!
We need to re-upolster your wheelchair with Vera Bradley Chocolat fabric or something. Jan
sending my love
Oh - loving the Vera Bradley upholstered chair idea! You really are being a trooper through this all and I could only hope that I would have a fraction of your resilience. Keeping you in my thoughts daily.

I am thinking of you and your family every single day, and sending healing prayers your way.
dear alison,
through penelope´s blog i learned about your troubles, and although i don´t know you, i´d like to send you some healing thoughts and good wishes.
let´s assume that while they travel west from vienna over austria, they gain some power over the mountains, the strength to keep your mind clear as if you were sitting on a meadow in the mountains, when they cross switzerland the stubborn will to do the right thing e.g. to live may become a part of my wishes and travel to your heart, and over france the healing powers of enjoying a good thing when it occurs may join in. now as they cross the sea there is a mass of energy and it also joins in to become you energy whenever you think of the ocean. when they travel by night the moon adds the great calm that it spreads (even though it is changing constantly) and from the coast on they start to gather even more qualities over the united states ( i think you know better what they could be and what would strengthen you). all this and more good things may reach you with this email and help you heal! carla.
Still sending lots of love and prayers and strength your way.

Thinking about you a great deal today - I just finished that bag of twizzlers ;)
Hoping Duke finds the perfect plan to fix you right up!
The feedback from people and prayers must be a comfort for you. It's so important for you to keep a positive attitude right now, although there will be days when you certainly won't feel like it. So glad that you can lean on the Great Healer to give you strength for each day. I don't know you, but I can pray for you and will! Many people prayed for me when I battled cancer (some I never even met!)and the unity that we have in Christ is an amazing thing! Blessings on you this week.
It was pure chance that I came upon your blog. Looking through artists websites one day last week I discovered Penelope. Her request for prayers for her friend sent me to you. I am reminded that living life can take a good deal of courage. I pray you find that everyday, on your own, or with the help of all of us who are sending you healing thoughts.
Andy
Alison,
You don't know me but I have known Jan for many years. I want to let you know that I have shared your prayer needs with friends here in Fort Wayne, Indiana and we are praying for a great healing of your body. Trust in the Lord always and lean not on your own understanding. I will be praying for you, Tom and all the specialists.

Alison,
I came to your blog via a post on Penelope's. I am soooooooo very sorry that you're going through this. (I've just spent the past year battling breast cancer) You CAN get through this, keep believing, keep fighting and laugh every chance you can. Here's a good quote I often repeated to myself through my own treatment process:
Triumph is just try with a little UMPH added.

All the best,
~Paige
