I can't believe I haven't updated in a week. What have I been up to you wonder. I have been keeping myself busy and it feels great. Tomorrow I start chemo....it always works this way. I start feeling really well, staying busy, being productive and then- smack- back to the reality of my life. Rounds of chemo, nausea, feeling down, unproductive.....I live for the breaks in between.
My life this past week (in no particular order):
1. I started taking bike rides every morning. And it feels oh so good to finally have the energy and moto to exercise. I'm also trying to really focus on eating healthier. I went to see the nutritionist a few weeks ago to make sure I was eating the best way I could be. I kept a food journal for her to review. She suggested I not loose any weight, eat more protein, drink lots of water, take a multi-vitamin, eat 100% whole grain or wheat- the usually stuff- most things I had already been doing.
2. Thomas and I have gone to the movies 3 times! Sunday to see Bourne Ultimatum with AJ and his momma, Wednesday we saw Stardust- great time to go- there was 1 other person in the theater, and Friday to see Nanny Diaries. T was 1 of 4 guys there. He's such a great husband! I read the book when we first started dating so it was only fitting we go see it together. I'm addicted to the white cheddar sprinkles they have to put on your popcorn- it's the BEST! Not so good for the eating healthy plan though.
3. I went shopping and to lunch with Sarah. So fun. It's always nice to hang out with a friend. She's moving at the end of October too so we need to get in as much friend time together as possible. :)
4. I had a blood and platelet transfusion of Tuesday. I've finally realized the connection between my headaches and needing blood and can pretty much tell when I need it. My platelets were super low- 4,000!
5. Thomas started painting his/computer room yesterday. We've been wanting to paint it for awhile- the color was just too dark for that room. I can't wait to get it organized!
6. We went to Barnes and Noble last night with AJ so he could people watch. It's so funny hanging out with a single guy. I had really great coffee though which makes it all worth it.
7. Found out AJ is leaving Beaufort! Yes- again. He just got orders to Abu-Dhabi for embassy duty. It's something he's really interested in and we're excited for him but sad to see him leave. No more Sunday brunches at the house. :(
8. Started seeing a therapist. My doc at the naval hospital had suggested T and I both start seeing someone to talk about the issues that come with being diagnosed with cancer when we saw her a few weeks ago. It's something we both have been wanting to do but just haven't. I really like this therapist. I was seeing someone before I was diagnosed for anxiety issues- which I still have- and never really got anywhere. This new lady seems to understand what I want to accomplish better. She has been doing a technique called ThetaHealing which I've been reading up on. Sounds a little weird but I'm open-minded and willing to try it. If anyone has tried it before or heard anything about it, I'd love to hear.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! I'm not looking forward to the week ahead but will fight on none the less.

I'm happy to go to the movies, even for "Nanny Diaries." I had fun this week...
Hi Alison -
I graduated with Tom and have been reading your blog.
I just wanted to send you a message to let you know that I have been and will be praying for you this week as you start chemo.

So glad you're doing well, what fun! You are doing so many good things for yourself. We pray for you at every meal. I'd like to check out that Thetahealing. Interesting, there is a lady in Atlanta who does awewome healing prayers for people, sure wish she could come and see you. She prayed over my friend who just had a double mastectomy.
Oh, that last comment was by me-Jan
Sounds like you have been busy girl! Three movies! Wow! That's great! THomas is a good man! I miss my coffee. Haven't had it in three months since getting pregnant! You know me, I love to shop, so I know you had a good time with Sara.
Love
Marissa
