Round 5

After being on such a high from learning that the chemo was working, it slowly slipped away as severe pain started creeping into my body on Wednesday. My left groin and leg became (and still are) painful and started swelling. I started using the chair and walker again to get around. Jack and Jan bought me both and the walker is extremely useful to get around the house. I started Round 5 of chemo today with an increase in one drug to help me stay pain-free in between rounds. This is the second time I've been hurting during my "no chemo" week so hopefully with the increase, I won't hurt.

The visit with my sister was so wonderful but disappointing for me. I was so aggravated that I was pretty much bed-ridden the whole time she was here. We couldn't go anywhere- do any of the fun stuff together I had planned in my head. Of course she didn't care at all and we ended up having a really great time. We got to talk a lot and just hang out and relax. She was really great at getting me things I needed when it hurt to bad to get up. She and Penny made Frogmore Stew (click to read it's history- it was created near where I live) for dinner on Saturday while I started Molten Lava Chocolate Cakes ( a huge hit!) and they both continued to help me with the cakes when they were finished. It was great bonding time with the sisters. :) It was wonderful to see Heather- I miss her already and can't wait to see her again at the end of October.

Sunday morning while Thomas took Heather to the airport and after I kissed my dad and brother goodbye- I took a walk with Colin, Penny and Vince (their dog). Colin pushed me in the chair. So I guess it was more like a ride but kind of fun. :) It was so great to be outside as I hadn't for days. The weather was incredible. A little warm but the shade was great and there was a slight breeze. As we were nearing the house, Thomas was back home so we decided to go again with him.

Tomorrow I'm getting blood- my hemoglobin count was a 7- normal is 11-12. Another early morning. And I'll be there at least 4 hours. I was at the Cancer Center today from 9:30am to 4:00pm! So long. I have to go back there again on Wednesday to remove "Becky" and get 2 shots. Getting sick of appointments again.

Read Thomas blog to hear about our new eating habits. It is quite funny.
