So plans have changed. We haven't left yet for IN. When I received my unit of blood yesterday and the nurse ran a cbc to check my counts my platelets were still really low and my hemoglobin count was .2 lower than before the transfusion. Dr. Chahin decided to do another unit of blood and a unit of platelets. So I went home and had lunch and back I went for the unit of blood. The platelets on the other hand come from Jacksonville, FL and could not be here until this morning. They only take about 30 minutes so hopefully I won't be here too long.....I have to wait for them to come from the hospital though and it sounds like the courier forgot to put them in the cooler that they brought over. There was only an icepack and no platelets. Sweet. More waiting. As soon as I'm done here, we'll be off.
