My Life

I apologize for being such a blog slacker.....life has been a little rough lately- imagine that.

I came home from work early on Friday and instantly crawled into bed. I had a fever, was very weak, sick to my stomach, my back hurt, my hips hurt, my legs hurt, my arms hurt, my ears hurt- I was miserable. I stayed in bed from then until Sunday morning when Tom made me go to the ER. I did manage to shower Saturday night witch I still do not know how I managed to do that- the whole time I thought I was going to pass out. My fever continued to climb- 101.6 at it's highest, I couldn't roll over or situp because it hurt so bad so I finally got out of bed and got dressed. We checked in and sat down in the waiting room. Tom had the great idea of bring a pillow so I laid it on his shoulder and tried to stay comfortable. The nurse finally called me into check my vitals- my temperature then was 100 degrees. She asked me a few questions, put my name band on me and sent me back out the to waiting room. And we waited. I curled up the pillow in my lap and tried to sleep but it just wasn't happening. After an hour and a half Tom went up and asked how much longer it was going to be. 10 minutes later I was laying in a bed. The doc came in a checked my ears and throat and then gave me a cup to pee in. That came back fine- a little blood in the urine but nothing alarming. So then he wanted to do blood work and an iv- which I've never had before. The blood work came back ok but I was slightly anemic- 9. I had blood work done a couple months ago and I was a 13.4 then. The doc thinks I have some sort of viral infection. They started the iv- fast at first and then the nurse put a shot of a drug like morphine but doesn't have to effects as morphine. Once she put that in the pump slowed way down and the timer on the iv machine read 3 hours. So I laid in the hospital bed with constant requests for a new blanket because I was freezing and Tom sat beside me.

The nurse came back in the take my vitals a few times- my temperature was 102 at its highest. The doc also came in and said I need to see my primary care doc within 72 hours to recheck the blood and urine. He also said he thinks I have some sort of rheumatic disease- like arthritis and is going to send a fax to her suggesting she do further testing!!! Finally- we might be getting somewhere! He prescribed motrin and lortab for the pain and to keep the fever down. I haven't gone to work the last 2 days.......I'm just so weak, still feverish and hurting. I drank lots of fluids yesterday but didn't eat anything until Tom got home around 7:00pm and made me a hotdog which I kind of ate.

And........
I want to thank Thomas for being so supportive during this frustrating time for the both of us. He really has had to change his lifestyle since I've been sick. He makes dinner, does the laundry, picks up the house, gets me anything I need which is usually water in the middle of the night......I know how much he wants to see me get better and how hard it is to watch me suffer. Thank you love for being by my side. And thank you for getting me that much needed glass of OJ in the morning. :)

Keep bugging the Dr.'s to be aggressive. Sometimes you have to. Search the web, ask questions, make suggestions even tho they might seem dumb or repitive. Maybe sometype of autoimmunity thing? Jack is real sick right now with sore throat.

have they checked you out for Lyme disease. WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?
A: A characteristic red "bulls-eye" rash (erythema migrans, or EM rash) at the site of the bite is present in 50% of patients. The rash may appear within days to weeks after the bite.
Some patients report flu-like symptoms, fever, aches, fatigue, neck stiffness, jaw discomfort, muscle pain and stiffness, swollen glands, and red eyes. Symptoms may appear, disappear and reappear at various times.

Nervous system abnormalities including partial facial paralysis (Bell's Palsy), migratory joint pains and pains in the tendons, muscles and bones may occur later in the disease. Joint symptoms, if present, usually affect the large joints like the shoulders, hips and knees.
