Trip to South Beach

Tomorrow I start my journey on the South Beach Diet. This isn't the first time I've gone done this so I'm no stranger to the 2 weeks without fruits or diary- something I'm not looking forward to. While in Florida, my sister-in-law (and mother-in-law, who has lost 50 pounds! Yay S!) reintroduced me to the diet and I'm looking forward to eating healthier and feeling better without all the sugar in my life. I cleaned out the refrigerator and the pantry today, clearing a shelf just for me- with only foods I can enjoy. I have to say, there isn't much in the pantry but there are lots of fresh produce and cheese in the refrigerator and red lean meat in the freezer. Breakfast is going to be difficult- I'll have to get up a little early to make myself eggs and canadian bacon instead of grabbing a bowl of cereal. I'm also going to start walking/running again. I've been slacking on that too since T's been home.

In other news, I went to the doctor on Wednesday for my back. I'm still having back spasms and am in pain a lot. The doc said my spine is definitely not straight and one of my legs in shorter than the other. I had x-rays taken of my hips and back and should find out the results of those this week. I am also going to start physical therapy. She said seeing a chiropractor would be a good idea too but insurance doesn't cover it. I think I will wait and see what the PT says and go from there. I also had blood work taken to check my thyroid and hormone levels- I've never been a "regular" woman so I wanted to get that checked out. I will found out the results of that sometime this week also.

The weekend was great. Friday T and I made a trip to see in the in-laws. It was nice to hang out at their place. It's so refreshing to see family. Once we got home on Saturday we started in on the closet. I helped him take down the old mirror doors and hang the new ones. I like being helpful- I should do it more often. :)

Don't worry - nobody's ever mistaken you for a "regular" person, Alison.

Good luck with the diet... personally, I'm only able to (sort of) adhere to the eating plan because I allow myself Cheerios. I found that bacon-and-egg breakfasts get old faster than any other aspect of South Beach.

So which leg is the shorty?
