Alison Goes To School

The new year has brought motivation. I've made the first steps in overcoming a personal issue (something I haven't had the courage to face for the past 3 years), I've paid off a huge chunk of my credit card, and I've enrolled in a class! Yes, that right, I'm going back to school! Yay me. I've decided to pursue a degree in Human Services. "Human services encompasses services provided to the public such as welfare, food stamps programs, social services, child support, adoption, economic assistance, rehabilitation and adult day care." I want to be a driving force in making this world a better place- even if it's just for one child. Better educated. Better cared for. Loved. So, adoption, educating new mothers......something along those lines is what I eventually want to do. I'm going to take most of the prerequisites at the technical college here and then transfer to University of South Carolina Beaufort. If my plan works, I will be eligible for the program next Spring. I'm taking a psychology class starting in March every Tuesday and Thursday night from 5:20-8:00pm. That is a really long time. I hope I can handle it. I'm so excited to be going back- to find a career that I'm passionate about. It's going to take awhile but time is relative.

Tom & I have been really enjoying marriage life TOGETHER again. I make dinner after work, he lights all the candles in the house, we eat by candlelight while sipping red wine........sounds cheesy I know but it really has been so relaxing. He is so wonderful. He's my best friend.
