Gimpy
As luck would have it, I have not been myself since Thomas has been home. My lower back started hurting me on Tuesday and by Thursday had not gotten any better. I couldn't get into see my doctor so at 5am on Friday morning Tom took me to the Emergency Room, a place I've never been before. The doc said I probably had just pulled a muscle and prescribed me a muscle relaxer and tylenol with codeine. His shift was over in 10 minutes so he gave me the option of just taking the meds and returning in 24 hours if the pain worsened or wait for the next doctor. I believed it was just a pulled muscle like he said so I took the meds. By Saturday afternoon the pain had worsened. I could barely move. I couldn't lift my left leg and Tom had to put my shoes on for me. So we decided to go back to the ER. This time it was packed! On Christmas Eve and our 2 year anniversary! We waited for 3 1/2 hours before seeing the doctor. Unlike the last doctor, this one didn't blow me off. He had just moved here for Washington State where his good friend is the trainer for the Mariners therefore having the wisdom to treat back injures very aggressively. He said I had a back spasm which in turn caused the muscle to tear. He said I needed to sleep on the floor tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night with my feet elevated. He also gave me a shot of morphine before I left to relax the muscle and to start the healing process. I also have to take 3 muscle relaxers every 8 hours and vicadin every 4. Plus ice it with a cup twice. So I've got one night down of sleeping on the floor and Tom just iced my back. I'm moving around a lot better but still hurting. Because of my injury, we did not make the trip home to Indiana which is very disappointing. There is no way I could ride in a car for 15 hours. It's hard being here in South Carolina without the family around. J & J came down last night though and are here today so that makes it so much better. It's so nice to have them here. I just feel bad because I'm such a gimp. Tom & I are thinking about going up to Indiana on Thursday after he gets off work and staying until Tuesday. I really hope that works out. Needless to say, this has been one eventful anniversary and Christmas.
